Anarchist Audit: Always Feels Like Somebody's Watching Me
After doing a little song and dance to distract the people, Congress has pushed through reauthorization of FISA. FISA, the decades old political response to violations of privacy and rights by the Nixon Administration supposedly hinders the government's ability to spy on people and their information without legal cause. FISA has been altered many times since enacted and in response to the Bush administration and NSA conducting warrantless domestic wiretapping in the early 2000's, in 2007 FISA was altered again to allow much of that previously illegal data collection and surveillance.
It's always nice to put a name and face on a thing and in the cases of government overreach and the reasons why it continues to grow out of control invading every aspect of our lives, it's
imperative. The Shirky Principle is the idea that a person or group, a business or government, acting purely to justify their own existence will create or
exacerbate the problems that fall under their purview.
Writing this before I read the article. Presented to us by Critical Financial, this paid
advertisement click-bait is undoubtedly a call for government intervention into markets by calling out 17 Things That Are Legal In The US, But Shouldn't Be. Crime One, having access to your choice of medications. Crime Two, because some people can afford bail, nobody should have bail. It gets worse.
Check your privilege! It worked on the last one, let's comment on this link before viewing it too. Nothing but woke agenda anti-capitalist, anti-progress bullshit on this list of 15 Examples of White Privilege You Benefit from Every Day and Don't Appreciate.
If you are active on social media, you may have seen a post about the new pubic school grading system in California. That post comes right as a new study shows what we've known for a long time, that so called "equitable" systems like these are a failure. That's why there should be a larger conversation about these dumbed down grades.
Why can't the media present a story without politicizing it? What is wrong with simply stating facts and not trying to present them in any particular political light? Police killed a man in Chicago last month and while the camera footage is not entirely clear about some of the details, the
pretext for the stop is clear and it is time we end it. No more people pulled over or killed on the claim they were not wearing a seatbelt.
Sometimes there are questions about the actions of authoritarian scumbags given legal permission to rob, cage and murder the rest of us, and then there are the times when Six Pigs Torture Two Men. You'll notice a distinct lack of colorful words in my description of events and those involved. But if you think it matters, you could probably guess that the pigs were white and the men they tortured were black.
Politics in numbers and data? Too bad politics doesn't care about anything but itself. When the data doesn't fit the political narrative,
politics wins. When the numbers don't favor the political agenda, politics wins. If Polarization on Most Issues Isn't In The Numbers then politicians and the politically driven press amplify the fringe elements in an effort to divide the population and keep the system in power. This should be no surprise.
I'm pretty well bored with following the month to month economic trends, so here's a link about how Inflation Rose in March. We are in a protracted recession trying to stave off a depression and it doesn't look good.
